IoT for Door Phones
The intercom has undergone a quiet revolution. Once just an analog buzzer with a crackling speaker, today’s systems are advanced IT products. They stream video to tenants’ mobile phones. They handle digital keys. They integrate with laundry room booking systems.
But the smarter the systems become, the greater the demands on the underlying infrastructure. A modern intercom that loses its network connection isn’t just “broken.” It’s a security risk and a source of frustration for hundreds of residents.
Stability for video and audio
Sending video in real time requires more from the network than simply sending a temperature measurement. Latency (delay) must be minimal. When a visitor rings the doorbell, it should not take ten seconds for the image to appear in the resident's app. By then, the visitor will already have left.
With Advisera's optimized IoT connection, you get priority traffic on the network. We ensure that bandwidth is available when you need it. Our roaming agreements always select the mast that provides the best capacity at your specific address, minimizing the risk of pixelated images and dropped calls.
Security: Close the door on hackers
A connected device at the entrance is a potential gateway for cybercriminals if it is not properly protected. Many installations today are made with standard internet subscriptions, where the device is directly exposed to public networks.
We offer solutions with fixed IP addresses and private APNs (Access Point Names). This means that the door phone is located in a protected tunnel, separated from the open internet. You can administer the system, change names on the display, and assign new permissions remotely without risking intrusion.
Administrative freedom for the administrator
For property managers, time is money. Traveling to a property just to reprogram an intercom when someone moves in or out is inefficient. With our Cisco-based platform, you always have the "tunnel" open for remote administration. You can see immediately if a device goes offline and can often restart it from the office before the residents even notice that something was wrong.
Frequently asked questions about connected door phones (FAQ)
Why do you need a SIM card if you have broadband in your home?
Running cables from the building's sub-distribution board to the entrance is often expensive and complicated, especially in older buildings. A wireless solution via 4G/5G is quicker to install and completely independent of the building's other networks, which increases security (redundancy).
Can we control the gate from an app?
Yes, most modern systems are based on app control. However, this requires the door phone to have a constant and stable internet connection in order to send the "open" signal without delay.
What is a static IP address and why do I need it?
A fixed IP address acts as a permanent digital address for the device. This allows you to securely connect to the door phone from outside to make settings or updates without having to be physically present.
